Lobert’s carmine red passion for the United Arab Emirates and the federation’s consistent elevation of the color gold, as adornment, accessory, token of trailblazing, and emblazoned remark on the deliciousness of life combine in this vigorous work. The artist’s use of gold paint is for once, in this series, absent of the usual gold leaf though, propelling one to consider her heart’s reminiscence as one close to nearing completion. When first impressions blaze and fade and all that’s left is the permanent mark of a distinguished era upon one’s existential echo, which is seen in the rare use of grey to conjure wisps of shadow.
