When her inner world clashes too strongly with the one imposed onto her, deep anxiety and tantrums give rise to occasional perforated canvases and abruptly interrupted pieces, later revisited. External triggers and events spark boundless emotional overflow, resulting in emotional spillover into paint.

Her process made of raw outbursts of expression seems impromptu; unstudied. When observing this process, it becomes apparent that painting is her only means of expression and not just a medium amongst others.

After experimenting with several mediums, Lobert persisted with acrylic on Flemish linen canvas. Canvases are stained, perforated, poured on and finger-painted. Self-taught, Lobert’s unique artistic methods continue to intrigue; her creative origin stemming from emotion-triggering daily activities, as much as from more personal, deep realms.

The painter’s compositions may be read like a diary, with works deriving from volatile emotions that well up within her mind and space. The fast-paced nature of her work-process emphasizes the pure and spontaneous intent of every mark. At times, these works demand our interpretation and at others, lay everything bare. Lobert’s abstract expressionism embodies the qualities that characterize the most exceptional art—purity of vision, immediacy, passion, and more.

Her extraordinary condition in tandem with her consistently vital, prolific output makes her work truly unique, in a category of its own—sui generis—as much of a phenomenon as it is art.

It feels like she can only hope that in seeing these works, you may come to understand her world just a little bit better.
