Shades of blue mark most pieces in Lobert’s collection honoring the United Arab Emirates, yet this work is completely invigorated by the introduction of electric orange. A fork-like tool creates a significant array of vertical structures alluding to the magnificent skylines signature to the band of countries heralding their progress like bastions of the contemporary Pan-Arab experience. Gold, as always, features distinctively as a constant reminder that this federation paves the way as an international hub of global connectivity. A squiggle on the left, made by the end of a thin paintbrush creates hatch marks evocative of windows, a small diamond of illumination into the artist’s intense process.
