When geography is viewed at night, so much is revealed about the human landscape that populates its environs. Looking down upon the United Arab Emirates might reveal this tumultuous abstract portrait of a federation that has evolved to blend bustling seaside modernity with an ancient and primal core. Tortured indigos dominate the canvas while at the top left-hand corner we find adjacent sources of cerulean light. It’s as if the artist is more comfortable in the dark with all its complexities, grabbing a hidden opportunity to hide in the shadows and aggressively scratch out spears of emotive gestures illuminated by the scarlet in her tale-tell heart.
