In this unusual depiction to three colors, divided into equal pyramid forms composed on the canvas to fit perfectly inside its square, an ode to trinity occurs. Perhaps an abstract conjuring of the father, son, and holy spirit that peppered Lobert’s theologian father’s beliefs; or a visual metaphor for the word’s combination of three to make one; or simply a study of balancing a triad of disparate parts, alike in form yet differing in hue. What emerges is a striking geography of strokes in a meditation on triangulation.
