Three red silhouettes that dominated Lobert’s prior work are now completely obscured by a solid plane of viscous and vivacious colors, only the tips of their symbolic hats peeking up through the mire. And what a glorious mire it is, as the artist begins to explore stroke, texture, slash, daub, and dot in bold deep navy and yellow hues; gradients of each revealed as the artist becomes intimate with her new visual playground. The myriad sizes of stroke and slash in this layer upon layer melee showcase a manic joy of discovery, an evolution of the creative process.
