An innocent naiveté pervades this rare minimalist composition where Lobert bisects the canvas into two horizontal washes of serene sky blue and emerald green. The tranquility belies a sweet nostalgia for her childhood time in the United Arab Emirates while the Rothko-esque color blocking presents a metaphorical atmosphere of a perfectly, clear and sunny day. The artist’s only use of silver leaf in the series is presented here like a flock of birds or a dotting of clouds amidst the more usual flurry of gold leaf, a consistent motif in this collection’s repertoire.
