A highly unusual third abstraction of the United Arab Emirates flag presents itself as if a book, spanning two adjoining canvases. Loose fields of green, red, white, and black on the right remain true to the flag’s composition yet the red block on the left has been magically transformed into a emotionally passionate outburst of almost floral magenta, pink, and fuchsia strokes. Furthermore dotted with jewel like dabs of gold leaf and exquisite tine-scraped marks, we see the artist’s rendition of the national symbol become drenched in throbbing, heartfelt expression.
