As the COVID-19 pandemic struck the world in 2020, Lobert delved into her experience of quarantine in Belgium through paint. In this first expression, lone swathes of vibrant green cower beneath a maelstrom of chaotic blues, the first time in her career where a single color is used in one small specific area of the canvas. This solo figure, verdant with life, becomes encapsulated by the dark realities ascending upon humanity, cornering all into an intimate relationship with the confines of home. Fiery red and orange bursts hearken to a universal sense of fear, and a looming unknown.
