This work is a distinctive illustration of Lobert’s love for using a thin-tined tool to scrape a surface of wet upon wet so that the underlayers stripe through with startling beauty. The piece showcases the magic of the technique as it sprouts the notion of semi- translucent marsh reeds blowing in the wind amidst a hot and swampy marsh. Muted violet conjures dusk falling across the landscape of hot orange and mustard yellow, its tones touching upon plant, earth, and sky.
