In every collection throughout Lobert’s oeuvre, therein lies a singular work expounding upon the square; a composition seemingly framed inward upon itself. Here, the square is formed by lavender and mauve, leaning in toward a center imbued with cornflower blue and bright spurts of yellow. In the middle, a black figure steals the show, almost magician, conductor, or ringmaster-like in form, directing a whimsical cluster of blue bursts. Bursts, as in joy, magnificent occasion, or momentum; a look inward to the heart of the creative impetus.
