Painted while she was still wet and nude, covered in bubbles after emerging from a hot bath, Lobert descended one floor in her home to her studio, and grabbed a canvas to create this magnificent reaction to her present moment—a prime example of her unique expressionism born from a pure place without premeditated thought. The high temperature water illustrated in torrid orange and passionate red, in a rectangle reminiscent of a tub with the loose form of an elongated figure amidst its swirls and slashes. A frantic central set of thin slashes breaks the plane as if in the act of escape from the liquid depths.
