The introduction of black to Lobert’s neon experiment invokes the omnipresent existence of shadow alongside light, the reliable cycle of day begetting night, and life that thrives out of sight. Here we see a floral abstraction of lilac and orange heaving up against the darkness, determined to grow into bloom, nonetheless. Perhaps a testament to the artist’s own experience of neurodiversity as being forever shrouded yet still divinely alive. A reminder that fruition does not always come from traditional means, nor need it follow the most well-worn path.
