A menagerie of Lobert’s techniques, iconography, colors, and systemic explorations appear simultaneously in the background, each claiming an individualistic place in the overall composition. A sulking red silhouette peeking out from a window at the center is surrounded by circular indigo, vertical red, maroon liquid drips, and a signature tined dash across the top uniting the field. Yet in the forefront an unusual instance occurs when yellow bows down to white and surprising notes of sage and mint emerge, sending a waft of their unconventional union skyward at upper right as if an entirely different piece has landed atop one previously composed.
